As well as being the defining icon of my generation, the iPod's 5th incarnation is here to remind everyone that it is the best at what it does. It takes all the important factors (video playback, battery life, sound quality and volume, etc) and gets them all done, and well, but what Apple really get right here is making sure there are practically no disadvantages. For example, while Sony's A3000 has better sound than the iPod, it is also clunky, with practically no RAM, horrible menus and bad software. The iPod on the other hand is smooth and intuitive, and iTunes remains the industry leader. Another much touted 'disadvantage' is the iPod's lack of ability to use it as a hard drive: this is a total myth. One click of a check box in the iTunes preferences, and you have a fully functional removable hard drive. In the end, the iPod is just shinier, more fun and better to use than any MP3 player available.

80GB wow! I've still not filled it - I have over a 1000 CD's - That take up a huge amount of space in my house and now they are all somehow on my 80gb ipod which is about the size of a pack of playing cards. And when you listen to your music it's perfect playback - no jumps or poor quality sound. I don't really use the video function very much, any videos i have uploaded have been as good as i would expect. I still prefer my video on a big screen, but it's great for transportation. The Battery could be longer and when you do watch any video, it drains the life away. Apple next time make your battery last longer and I wouldn't have anything bad to say. I cant complain that much, I love my iPod. |
